Discover unique storytelling and exquisite visual styling at the SIGGRAPH 2022 VR Theater Program

The VR theater creates an unforgettable and immersive experience for the in-person participants. This year’s selection shows the beautiful use of volumetric capture technology and content that has evolved and evolved over the years. From pace and production quality to storytelling techniques, VR content for 2022 emphasizes the growth and evolution of the medium.

There are several showings of two films in the main theater 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m8 Aug to August 10, 2022and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m on August 11, 2022. The two stories characterize the next generation of longer storytelling, combining the best in technique, storytelling, innovation and subject matter. Participants can also experience a “trip through the cinema – with spaceships” in the virtual SIGGRAPH VR theater lobby, which was developed together with Digital Media Center.

In addition to the main theater there will also be four kiosks allowing additional viewings of other plays from the 2022 selection. Showings are available from August 8th to August 10, 2022out 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.mand further August 11, 2022 out 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“The 2022 VR Theater Picks emphasize visual style, immersive storytelling, and provide insight into new ways developers can produce virtual realities,” said SIGGRAPH 2022 VR Theater Chair Yangos Hadjiyannis. “This year’s work has allowed us to make the decision to present more plays in both the main theater and the VR kiosks. It allows SIGGRAPH visitors to see more content and get a comprehensive feel for trends and topics in the VR medium. Having a sense of presence and having a visceral experience is taken to a new level with each passing year. The involvement of viewers in these stories makes them more meaningful and exciting.”

Paper Birds

Paper Birds is the story of a short-sighted child with an extraordinary talent for music. He must find his way through the world of darkness to bring back his sister who was kidnapped by the shadows. An interactive story about a young musician in search of true inspiration.

Goliath: Playing with reality

The award-winning Goliath: Playing with Reality uses stunning animation and explores the limits of reality. A true story about “schizophrenia” and the power of gaming communities, the narrator (Echo voiced by Tilda Swinton) guides the viewer through the many realities of Goliath, a man who has spent years isolating mental institutions but finds connection in multiplayer games. Through heartfelt dialogue, intriguing imagery, and symbolic interactions, viewers progress through multiple worlds to uncover Goliath’s poignant story.

Black Ice tells the story of a cyberpunk future in which a young woman seeks out a memory editor to suppress a dark memory of a murder she committed. However, the more she alters the memory, the more she wants to kill again.

Red Tail Ep.1

On the Morning You Wake is an immersive virtual reality documentary that follows the 2018 Ballistic Missile Alert Hawaii. On 13th JanuarythIn 2018, a warning was issued to 1.4 million citizens Hawaii. Communication broke down and panic gripped the populace, gaining an understanding of the growing and urgent nature of today’s nuclear threat.
